• Lake Fire Studio provides a variety of raku glazes to use on your (2) bisque pieces.
• Bill Burris & NCG members conduct the kiln firings at the event.
What to Bring:
2 bisque-fired pieces maximum height 8”, NO more than 2 pieces per person.
(If you don't have your own Raku ready bisque pieces) 3lb bisque vases, as in the photo below, will be available for $15 each, for purchase directly through Bill Burris.
For your bisque pots, use cone 5 or 10 clay bodies that have a high grog content. These clays tend to withstand thermal shock more so than others. Suggested clay types are:
Raku Clay
Soldate 60
Vegas Buff Grog (not smooth)
B Mix with Grog (sand)
Your own snacks & drinks if you have special dietary needs.
Raku tools if available, including a reduction bucket.
Heavy duty gloves and long tongs if you have them.
Raku glazes if you have any available.
Dress in weather appropriate clothing with fire safety and smoky air in mind.
Wear long pants and close-toed shoes
Dress in layers for indoor and outdoor activities
Use sunscreen as needed
